Marriage Counselling

What Is Marriage Counselling?

Marriage counselling or couples counselling is a type of therapy specifically designed to help couples work through any major issues they face in their relationship. Through active listening and tailored activities or discussions, marriage counselling can give couples the chance to gain insight into how they perceive one another and interact.

Cases Where Marriage Counselling Can Help

With the guidance of a professional marriage counsellor, married couples can address underlying conflicts in their relationships and learn communication strategies that can help them resolve conflict respectfully. Some of these conflicts include:

  • Challenges with blended families
  • Lack of sexual and emotional intimacy
  • Infidelity and/or temptations to cheat
  • Jealousy, insecurity, and trust issues
  • Coping with mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety
  • Traumatic experiences, such as a death or major illness in the family
  • Recurring arguments or tension
  • Communication problems
  • Emotional or physical abuse recovery
  • LGBTQ identity and family acceptance issues
