This group teaches young teens mindfulness techniques. Mindfulness can help improve concentration, regulate emotions, and build self-confidence. Mindfulness also provides the opportunity to learn about our physical experiences and enhance the ability to self-soothe and relax. The practice of mindfulness promotes kindness, patience, and gratitude.
For many children with Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder, mindfulness training has been shown to improve attention, focus, memory, self-understanding and self-acceptance. In addition, mindfulness helps to alleviate anxiety by focusing on the present rather than worrying about the future.
Goals of the group include:
The group consists of 5 sessions and is limited to 8 participants. Sessions are facilitated by Registered Psychotherapist and would be covered under Registered Psychotherapy in benefit plans.
